§ 4822. Compromise by guardian or parent as to rights of ward or child

A guardian cannot compromise with regard to the rights of a person who is subject to guardianship, except in the manner prescribed in subsection (12) of § 786 and in section 788 of this title.

The father, and the mother in a proper case, may compromise with regard to the property and rights of the child who is under his or her authority, but if the value of the object involved in the compromise should exceed five hundred (500) dollars, it shall have no effect without judicial approval.
