Section 22-11-201 - State public education system - annual performance review - targets for improvement
(1)
(a) The state board shall annually review the performance of the statewide public education system, including but not limited to reviewing the levels of attainment on the performance indicators demonstrated by each public school, each school district, and the institute. Following said review, the state board shall set, reaffirm, or revise, as appropriate, ambitious but attainable statewide targets for the measures used to determine the levels of attainment of the performance indicators for the coming academic year with the goal of raising the level of academic performance in the public schools throughout the state. In setting the targets, the state board shall, to the extent possible, ensure that the targets meet federal law requirements.
(b) In adopting the targets required by paragraph (a) of this subsection (1), the state board shall adopt a set of targets for grades three through twelve.
(2) In adopting the targets required by subsection (1) of this section, the state board shall consider any information provided by public schools, local school boards, the institute, school administrators, teachers and teachers' associations, parents and parents' associations, and institutions of higher education related to the academic performance of the public education system in Colorado.
(3) The state board shall adopt and publish on the data portal the annual statement of targets in accordance with time frames set by state board rule.
