The petition by the state of Connecticut for certification for appeal from the Appellate Court, 147 Conn.App. 53, 80 A.3d 103 (2013), is granted, limited to the following issues:

“1. Did the Appellate Court properly determine that the trial court abused its discretion in joining two political corruption cases for trial and that such joinder was not harmless?

“2. Did the Appellate Court properly determine that the trial court's refusal to sever the cases violated the defendant's right to testify in one case while remaining silent in the other?” EVELEIGH, J., did not participate in the consideration of or decision on this petition.
